What decade has digital printing gone through? How do practitioners go forward and pursue to this day? Let's review this history and trace the development and evolution of digital printing in China

trace the source and recall the past

When did the digital printing in Chinese Mainland begin? According to the insider, the first digital printing machine in Chinese Mainland was presented by the Germans. In 1991, the German Patent Office presented a Xerox high-speed text printing equipment with the model of 5090 to the Chinese patent office and installed it in China Patent Literature Publishing House (now renamed China Intellectual Property Publishing House). 5090 is the predecessor of Xerox dt135, with a speed of 135 pages per minute. After the equipment was officially put into operation, Xerox organized foreign enterprises, publishing houses and printing enterprises in Beijing to visit the site. The characteristics of high-speed and variable content printing displayed by the digital printing equipment made the visitors refreshing and excited

according to Xerox, the "1995 international economic summit" held in Beijing in 1995 used a digital printing system to print conference documents for the first time, creating a precedent for printing a large number of conference documents on demand in China. This is an important international exchange ⑤ it meets the relevant requirements of data processing in JB/t9370-1999 "changing the technical conditions of experimental machines" and gb10128-1988 "changing the experimental method of metal room temperature". The speakers are political and business leaders such as the president and CEO of the world's top multinational enterprises and the leaders of China and some foreign countries. The number of guests at the meeting is more than 800, which is unprecedented. The conference provided each guest with about 500 pages of documents, a total of 850 sets, with a total print volume of about 450000 A4 copies. Even if the digital printer with 135 pages/minute is used, it will take 55 hours to finish printing if it works 24 hours a day. Besides, it takes time for manuscript waiting, document page matching, punching, clamping and other links. Xerox made the best use of the equipment and human resources at that time, and finally delivered more than 500 pages of heavy conference documents to the table of each participant at 10:13 a.m. on the morning of the meeting. Although the documents were not delivered in strict accordance with the stipulated time, digital technology, after all, made a small test, creating a miracle in the printing of documents of the Shanghai conference in Chinese history
